Ashley!! You should watch Anne with an E and Euphoria. The two shows are completely different but the cinematography and plot line is just.. Incredible😍

    2. maria nk

I find her brand of being “relatable” easy to watch and consume. The thing is people need to realise youtubers aren’t their friends. They’re self-employed people doing a job, and for Ashley it’s selling the “quirky, relatable, I’m struggling just like u” brand while also having thousands if not more in her bank account lol.

    3. maria nk

you can still support someone without putting them on a pedestal thinking they’re perfect and can do no wrong?

    4. maria nk

i definitely feel like there is a large pressure to keep your audience engaged and watching

    5. missvideo10000

Such a fucking good videoooo yesss ! you just brought joy to my day!! Thank youuuu

Being a feminist doesn’t mean bringing down other women who don’t fit your ideal of a feminist.

    7. maria nk

I don’t want to come off as hateful because I don’t hate Ashley I hate her fake “wokeness” over feminism one moment bashing housewife’s and then bragging about her work ethic. Being a feminist doesn’t mean bringing down other women who don’t fit your ideal of a feminist.

    8. maria nk

ashley is guilty of monetising her suffering, which is part of why she's become a meme and persona of herself

    9. maria nk

This drives me nuts. the fact that she makes a point to mention she's a feminist any time she can yet constantly talks down on other women for having different preferences or choosing different paths of life is insane, the bashing of housewives especially enrages me because she not only is painting a false image of what it really is to be a housewife but she contradicts her "views on capitalism".

    10. never land

Words cannot explain how Ashley is such an AWESOME youtuber. she's got the whole package honestly. wit, humor, knowledge, bomb ass insights, super bomb fashion sense and the bEST video editing skills. like watching ashley's videos make me feel so empowered and confident about myself. in short, i'd beat a kid for ashley 😣 that's how much i stan this queen!!

    11. Aaliyah Alexander

my heart literally shattered when friends from college was not renewed UGH such an AMAZING show

    12. Chantelle Spauls

I just finished years and years (started it only yesterday) and oh my gosh it goes 0-100 really quick haha loved it but it really pulls on the heartstrings. Thank you for recommending xx I wish i checked it out earlier

    13. Josh Hunter

That first ten seconds is too real for me, second year film is making me question my life choices and future P.S. I saw a Daniel Sloss show in person when he was touring Australia and he's even better

Gurl, Avatar the Last Airbender dropped on Netflix this month and it’s one of my favorites shows to this day. The themes, character development, and plot is so well done. It’s so enjoyable-I don’t even consider it a kids show! I recommend it to everyone! Also Game of Thrones was one of my FAVORITE SHOWS so I feel you on that saltiness 😭

please do more of this! so good!!

    18. Svea Blumee

      Ozark is banging too

    19. Dorothea Linnaeus

I had high hopes for Love, but after a while I realized that even though they try to have an open conversation about relationships and gender stereotypes, they actually can't walk the walk. For example, Mickey is super hot but only dates below average joes, and Gus always ALWAYS get's these super hot girls. He even scores with twins, but then he is the one feeling yuckie, and the twins are confused? Like what? Who writes female characters like that? But that's what you get with effin Judd Apatow. One show that really helped me through quarantine is Crash landing on you. It's about a south korean woman who accidentally ends up in North Korea! Since it's super dangerous to be south korean in North Korea and also to be there illegally, she's in a lot of trouble. It's quite different from all the shows you mentioned here, and honestly it's very different from my usual taste as well. But it's a show filled with action, tension, friendship and love. The episodes are a bit longer than what we are used to in western tv, but prepare with a nice cup of tea and a blanket and you'll be fine. PS. It's on Netflix!

    20. holo its me

Hi Ashley, if you are interested in alternate world war 2 history, you should totally watch 'The Man in the High Castle'. The plot and costume and set design is great! And if you like dark comedy and history, watch 'The Death of Stalin', its so funny!

    21. Allie Bailey

you should do a video about all the youtubers you like to watch!

    22. Dais

      Afterlife with Ricky Gervais is a w o r k o f a r t, super dark humour, so frickin good

    23. Valerie D

Bojack horseman IS incredible, I 100% agree with Ashley's review, it's so so underrated

    24. Shantal Marcelo

Can you make a video where you explain where to buy jewelry that you can use to dress up outfits?🥺

    25. Koala

Great recommendations Ashley, I hadn't heard of some of these/had seen them advertised but didn't know what they were about. Definitely going to check these out. Especially Fleabag. I don't blame you for feeling low with quarantine, especially living on your own in a city you've only just moved to but can't easily socialize in. It's like living in a prison except you don't know when your release date is. It feels like life is on hold right now but something I've found has been helping me recently is temporarily dropping plans I can't do right now and bringing forward plans I can do. And believe me I've been fucking miserable for a while, but now I'm out. It's still a little precarious, but I think it'll stick. For months I've been clinging desperately onto the idea of travelling overseas to Europe for the first time which had been my plan for 2020, especially because it was going to include seeing a friend I haven't seen in a year and I don't have many good friends, but one day last week I started browsing creative short courses run by the local university (they tend to be relatively cheap where I live - NZ), and in five minutes made a snap decision to spend some of my savings and enroll in one of them. Instantly my mood lifted, I felt lighter than I had in ages. Then I emailed a company that teaches paragliding, so I might be doing that later this year too which will likely use up all my travel savings, but is something I've been wanting to do for a long time. I'm not likely to see my overseas friend again for a long time now, possibly years (he's going to run out of his visa by the time it will be safe for me to head over, and I doubt he'll want to hang out at home when he has so many other friends) but even though I'm losing that I feel like I have tangible things to look forward to now. Not everyone is in my position of having enough money to make big plans right now, but if you're able to plan anything, or start something new whilst we're stuck like this, I really think it can help - it helped me anyway. Anyways, if anyone is reading this and needs someone to talk to go for it. (In a similar vein to Ashley I think I'm trying to justify spending four years studying psychology before realizing I really really wanted to give the creative fields I'm into a decent crack after being discouraged and told to study to get a real job by my over-protective parents for years).

    26. ngokko

I recommend Money Heist I finished it in two days lolol

    27. Jorja Rayne

Fargo season 2 is so damn good!

    28. Barbara F

We have the same taste for shows. But I have not seen all of them, so thanks for recomendations!

    29. Lian Mitchell

No joke. My mom and I watched the first season of Big Little Lies in one night. We were obsessed and had to know how the season ended. My mom only keeps up with 3 tv shows, so her binge watching a whole new show in one night tells you how amazing this show is!

    30. Kiran Pawar

Please finish your screenplays. We believe in you!

    31. Glowing Minimalist

Have you seen Ozark? OH MY GOD I swear I binged watched the whole three seasons in less than a week. Jason Bateman & Laura Linney launder money for a Mexican drug carter & a mid-west heroin plantation. It's moody, it's darkly comedic, it's fucking SMASHING. You oughtta watch it if you haven't already :)

    32. CHEER GKT

Some of them are on my list for a while, gotta watch now!

    33. Lin K

Question!! I recently discovered this channel and have basically binge watched all of her videos. Can anyone reccomend other channels to watch that have people with personalities similar to Ashley's? Thank you!!☺️

    34. thebirdsworkforthe666

sorry Ashley, but joking about killing and eating children is not comedic nor is it clever, in any situation. You have a very underdeveloped sense of humor. you also lost a subscriber :)

    35. owo

ashley do you script your jokes?

    36. iluvpigs25

love that you mentioned bojack! it’s such a good portrayal of mental illness even though it’s lighthearted on the surface

    37. longhorns13192

The girlfriend experience was a little too sterile for me.

    38. Ruby Netherwood

Hey :) my screenwriter friend got me really into a couple of Aaron Sorkin's shows, we watched Studio 60 and the West Wing and I definitely recommend those two for you. I really love that these are shows that at a glance I would never expect to be interested in. Like, American politics?? Once you start watching though...the writing is soooo amazing, highly intellectual, witty and dramatic, and he really elegantly covers important issues like racism and feminism. Every episode has a purpose and you really fall in love with the characters and need to know what happens next.

    39. Harika Singh

y'all need to watch "the magicians" it's criminally underrated but it's gold and one of the best show of all time 🤠✌🏻✨

    40. Anastasia Moore

Ashley you inspired me to start my own NOsel channel❣️

    41. Katie McMullan

      *dun dun daaa*

    42. Erica Google

Sometimes I see the spitting image of animal in people and lowkey laughed about it, like that teacher that kinda looks like a gorilla, that boy that looks like a rhino....Bojack Horseman perfectly described my perception. aaand I'm gonna watch Maniac because I dream a lotttttt and have some sleeping issues, I have trouble differentiating dreams and find it so hard to relate to people. I can't deep sleep so every night I go into this half conscious half awake state where I connect to my "2nd world", recently dreamt of witchcraft and my bed actually vibrates? it's like most of the time I get a 4D effect. Some of my experiences include getting bothered by child ghosts so I had to wake up. there's one time a "little girl" actually crawled up from underneath my blanket. Anyways, are you okay? you look depressed but you tried and I still love you and all you've done. I suggest if you feel like you have a lot bottled up in yourself, feel free to go to the nature- woods or forests, where no one's there to unwind or hug a tree!

    43. Katie McMullan

Ashley *have u told ur family yet* bc omg I’m stressed for u

    44. Christlin Conanan

I AM A FILM STUDENT TOO AND GIRL THAT INTRO IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOO ACCURATE except i don't have a youtube channel :))))))

    45. Sarah Ford

I recommend Unbelievable on Netflix :) it's a serious story following a few women who were raped across different states, and there's this two (buzzword) empowering female detectives who literally are such brilliant examples on how to treat people who are going through intense trauma, and we see this contrasted by these men who are, I guess, 'trying' to be sensitive but they're ultimately just doing their job and nothing more. It's a super thought-provoking limited series and really just makes you question how women in the current day are being treated by authorities when they experience sexual assault.

    46. Ally Forand

Jesus Christ, did you just say “if anyone has seen that clip on Tik tok...” cuts to Cher talking to Jane Pauley in one of the most iconic conversations of the 90s. Also watch Nanette by Hannah gadsby. You’ll be horribly uncomfortable for a bit.

    47. Odie M.

i watched bojack horseman thank you asheley

    48. romaneva

    49. Nat S

The Good Place is one of the best shows out there, tying in philosophy with comedy to make an incredible plot line with lovable characters in a world that’s wonderful to just look at. highly highly highly recommend!

    50. Glo Mk

YES! Thanks for the list. Saving me from quarantine boredom

    51. George Bergermeister

Maybe you didn't finish your screen plays not because you were afraid of rejection, but just because you suck at writing.

    52. lana

      more of this please!

    53. Tom Campbell

      Re; intro...yes, to 3 million + subscribers!

    54. tyler weston

    55. Carla Rivera

recommending parks and rec, I knew I could trust you !!! and tbh I kinda wanna be your friend 'cause you seem really cool and funny and I've loved all your videos so far !!

    56. Sophia Presutti

I highly HIGHLY recommend watching Normal People on Hulu. It was one of the best things I've watched in YEARS. I binged it in a single day. It depicts a very realistic, messy love story that makes you cry and want to scream all at the same time, and I completely fell in love with the characters.

    57. Lydia Straka

Everything is going to be okay (hulu) has the most authentic and validating portrayal of teenage girls I've ever seen, seriously it's so spot on and everyone needs to see it

    58. Tierin Ko

Can u plz do a updated version of how u edit ur vids? I’m always curious how u make ur handwriting on thumbnails and stuff! I think it’s a great video make during quarantine!

    59. Grace Hill

Based on your recommendations, I think you'd really like the show Barry! It's a dark comedy that delves into themes about free will and mental health through the frame of a hit man who wants to turn a new leaf and become an actor. It can be really funny and also really intense emotionally, and it's a fun watch. :)

    60. Natalie Galluzzo

Watch Ozark you will love it. Promise

    61. Daniela López

      Pleaaase makeeee a podcaaast

    62. Susan RP

      OMG what about book reviews!?

    72. Sabina L

      fleabag yesssss

    73. Monica Matarrita

i recomend well ashley said love i would say "you're the worst" is cool i saw people also recommending Killing Eve and The Great those two are awesome, strong women characters i also love Atlanta the Donald Glover show is funny and real at the same time, also tackles a lot of social issues maybe The Politician has a great cinematography like Wes Anderson and a great performance from Ben Platt Shameless US it is looong and tooo real for comedy i really enjoy Middleditch & Schwartz is a comedy special of this 2 guys doing a completely improvised show also I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson is like little sketches and yeah i think that's it if someone has female comedy specials to recomend feel free to tell me I want to see more funny women

    74. tegan

Gotta watch Ozark, it’s a masterpiece

    75. Rebecca Bentley

honestly congrats on the epic intro. I remember the clips of you repeating yourself 100x’s in a video to get the perfect take, which makes me REALLY understand the effort that intro probably took 😆

    76. Olivia Santarsiero

Elite and La Casa de Papel are my two current favs (Spanish Netflix series) SO GOOD! Binge worthy for sure, and amazing characters/actors

    77. Arctica Woof

It’s really interesting what you said about wanting to watch action films as a kid. I feel like it explains a lot about adults who enjoy them now. All of my friends who love Marvel and stuff like that seem to be really positive and happy with life (the way I would feel when I was a kid). But yeah, it’s not like there’s a scientific research on that so maybe I’m just generalizing. Btw wasian girl here 🙋🏻‍♀️ I’m also thinking about studying cinematography bahaha 💘

    78. marium khan

a show that i highly recommend would be 'living with yourself.' it stars paul rudd playing a character on the show named miles who's dealing with severe depression, and tries to combat against it by going to a spa that was recommended by his coworker, only to realize that the procedure that was done to him had gone wrong, and is now stuck living his life with a clone of himself. it's a really great show, and the acting is *chefs kiss,* i really recommend watching it :)

    79. Jobama

    80. Marvic Teriz Mangilaya

      I recommend Alias Grace :D
